The Mostes shipyard was founded in 1914 on Lake Como, in Lezzeno, by Alessandro Mostes, who in just a few years made it an important player in the nautical sector.

It is a company rich in history and traditions, starting with the way wood was worked for boat hulls.

Wood was worked by shipwrights until the advent of fibreglass and other more ‘modern’ materials.

Around the 1930s, the factory was moved to Sturla – near Genoa – by brothers Luigi and Mario Mostes.

It was in those years that the shipyard began to become more and more successful, building famous boats such as the Snipe, the 12-foot Dinghy, the Star and the Arpage.

But also motorsailers – like our Milly – and cabin cruisers.

The yard thus became a reference point for woodworking and also began to dedicate itself to the restoration of classic boats.

In the 1980s, the yard became really important and well-known, as it began to combine wood with fibreglass, a very light and extremely solid material.

To this day, the yard remains one of the most famous when it comes to the restoration and construction of sailboats – from classics such as Milly to the most modern.
